Family Movie Night Nibbles

Whether it’s the frosty nights or the short days, something about this time of the year makes family movie night more and more appealing. Of course, there’s always popcorn popping while selecting the DVD, but your family movie night munching can evolve into even more. Here are some suggestions that may move your snacking to center stage.

Feature your favorite fruits. Set yourself up with a bowl of California Ripe Olives, cherry tomatoes or sweet blueberries. Just like popcorn, they’re just the right size to keep going back for more.

Go for a dip. Stir up a few flavorful dips before the movie begins. Break out the carrots sticks, pretzels and chips and dig in. A classic tapenade paired with toasted French bread slices, Olive Artichoke Party Dip or this Veggie Spread will upgrade your experience beyond any big screen.

Eat in character. Take your culinary cue from your movie choice. It’s a great way to introduce your kids to snacks from around the world. Watch Alice in Wonderland while nibbling on tea sandwiches, munch on Middle Eastern Chicken Kebabs with Aladdin and experiment in the kitchen before sitting down to Ratatouille. Olive Polenta Poppers are kid-friendly enough for the whole audience and perfect you’re your budding young chef.

Get nuts. A bag of almonds, pistachios or peanuts is always a welcomed addition when it comes to nighttime noshing. You can take it a step further by spicing or heating nuts before the show. Our recipe for Mediterranean Roasted Olives features a mixture of almonds and California Ripe Olives; the critics will rave!
